Tips To Keeping Fit After Child Birth

In recent years, countless numbers of women have taken to social networks to document the stages of their pregnancy from ultrasound beginnings to post baby-bump shrinkage. At the touch of a screen mommies-to-be and women in contemplation of starting a family can view how quickly some celebrities seem to get back to the bodies they sported before pregnancy.

Celebrities also play a role. Even more recently, celebrities seem to have a quick “bounce back”  time frame. For many this seems like a daunting task, leaving them to question how soon is too soon to shed the baby weight?

According to medical findings, most mothers lose post baby weight by the six-month mark, but if this is the case why does it seem that some women get in shape much more quickly than others? What is the appropriate amount of weight one should seek to lose on a weekly basis? On average, it is considered healthy to lose one to two pounds weekly, but if this is true, why is it that so many celebrity women seem to be able to snap back into shape so quickly?

Celebrities have help. Average women have to juggle.
With personal trainers and nannies at their disposal, celebrities and other high profile women have no issue with being able to dedicate time towards getting into shape while the baby is taken care of. The best way for the average woman to get into the best shape of her life post baby is to create a solid plan and take it slowly.

Slow and steady wins the race.
It took nine months to pack on the pregnancy pounds, so it will take time to shed them. Within the first six weeks of delivery, the body will go through a series of changes to heal itself, and during this time the body will shed pounds naturally. There is no reason to rush through a process that the body will naturally facilitate.  Setting a realistic weight loss goal of 6-10 months not only reduces stress (stress raises cortisol levels that lead to weight gain) but will also facilitate in creating a routine and diet that is fit for the demanding schedule of caring for a newborn child.

The body needs time to heal.
One of the main contributors to post baby weight is the size of the uterus. When the uterus reduces in size, it not only shrinks post baby belly size but it also helps to balance out hormonal levels that also help in shedding baby weight. Breastfeeding is a great way to help the uterus shrink back to its normal size while burning up to 500 calories in the process.

Plan diet and exercise.
It can be pretty difficult to remain on a consistent diet and exercise plan when the new baby needs so much attention, but by committing to a solid plan of action, receiving help from family and friends and making sure to stick to a balanced diet for the health of yourself and the baby, weight loss can be within reach.
